Early Intervention Partnerships Program (EIPP) is a collaborative project among the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, The Guidance Center, Inc. (GCI) and other agencies in the state. EIPP provides prenatal and infant support by offering free home visits for pregnant woman and mothers of newborn infants under two months. Our mission is to promote the well-being of families and link families to appropriate community resources.

As the local provider of Healthy Families, a program funded by the Children’s Trust Fund, The Guidance Center offers home visits and support to first-time parents ages 20 and under living in Cambridge and Somerville. Healthy Families works in partnership with Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention to promote healthy child development and positive relationships between parents and their babies.

Hello Baby is a collaborative project of Cambridge-Somerville Early Intervention, Healthy Families and four other community

agencies. Supported by private donations, it provides a welcoming home visit, risk assessment and community connections for families of newborns who live in Somerville and Cambridge. The program is available to families delivering at the Cambridge

Hospital, and parents must sign a consent form for a visit at the birth hospital.

 

Parent-Child Home Program

The Parent-Child Home Program is an innovative, home-based literacy and parenting program for eligible families in Somerville

with children aged 16 months to 3 years old. Trained Home Visitors visit families twice a week for 1/2 hour sessions over a two year period. In play sessions with the parent and child, the Home Visitor models verbal interaction and learning through play using carefully chosen books and toys which are donated to the parent to continue the interaction between sessions.
